Onisifor Ghibu

“Onisifor Ghibu” Theoretical High school is a relatively new school celebrating this year (2008) 14 years of existence. The high school carries as its name the name of its patron Onisifor Ghibu, a great man of value for the Romanian culture, being among the ones who revolutionized the Romanian school system in its early stages.  Along its yet short existence this school has managed to develop itself into a respectable high school in Sibiu, a town with a high competition when it comes to education. Although the school doesn’t have a long tradition, its students manage to achieve success in competitions at a local level as well as at a national and international one.

The high school hosts approximately 800 students who are guided by approximately 70 teachers in 4 German-speaking classes at primary level, 4 German-speaking classes at lower secondary level while at high school level there are classes of Computer science, Foreign languages, German, Theatre and Sports (one class for each level). The school is equipped with two computer labs, two language labs, one Chemistry lab, one Physics lab, a large and modern gym, a festivity hall while both teachers and students have access to modern equipment (computers, smart boards, video projectors, etc).

The school has been twice awarded the title of European School by the Romanian Ministry of Education and it is a preparation and examination centre for Cambridge, Sprach Diplom and ECDL. It has also been involved in numerous educational projects and partnership with schools all over Romania and Europe.
